Academic Scholarship
Candidates will be required to sit a selection of exams including Maths, English and verbal and non verbal reasoning. It can be the case that a candidate may apply due to a particular strength in one subject, and although this is acceptable, the candidate must demonstrate sound achievement in all areas of the National Curriculum. The candidate will be expected to take part in a debate with existing pupils, conducted by the Headteacher with the Senior Teacher present. There will also be a personal interview with the Headteacher.
Sports Scholarship
Candidates will need to excel in their chosen area of sport and undergo general skills tests. Candidates will also need to achieve the correct National Curriculum levels for their age, and this will be determined by a basic Maths and English test. Candidates will be expected to take part in a small debate with other pupils; this is conducted in the Headteacher’s study with the Sports Master present. Candidates will also attend a personal interview with the Headteacher.
Performing Arts.
These scholarships have now been awarded for the coming academic year, but will be available again from March 2011 and are awarded in partnership with Big Little Theatre School.
Strict Requirements for all boys and girls wishing to gain a scholarship.
All candidates must show that they are excellently behaved, polite and courteous.
All candidates will be assessed for their attitude and willingness to perform at their best level.
Scholarship Days and Arrangements
Please apply by letter and enclose a cheque for £25. This will cover all examination expenses and will include a morning snack and a hot meal at lunchtime.
A date will then be arranged on an individual basis with small groups of candidates being invited to spend the day.
Who may apply?
Children age 7 years upwards can be considered for scholarship awards.
When will the scholarship start?
Successful candidates will be able to start in the Autumn Term.
What will the reduction be?
Fees will be reduced by 25% to 50% for successful candidates.
Can my child start earlier than September?
This is entirely your choice, but full fees will be required until September.
