PTA Meeting

Our next meeting will take place on the 15th November at 7.30pm in our school staff room.  Please feel free to come along, you will all be most welcome.  One of our main topics of discussion will be our Christmas Fayre which will take place in our school hall on Friday 9th December at 3.15pm.

 BBC Children in Need 2011

This year’s Children in Need appeal is on Friday 18th November 2011.  We have decided to do two activities as a school.  We will be kicking off with bingo which will be held in each class and there will also be a cake sale at 3.15pm.  The bingo will have prizes per line and also for a full house.  A donation of £1.00 per child would be gratefully received.  The cake sale in the afternoon will take the usual format – please bake a few cakes for us to sell, but failing that, bought ones are also wonderful!  Thank you for all your generosity.  All proceeds will go to this magnificent charity.

 School Uniform Sale

We will be having a school uniform sale on Tuesday 29th November at 2.45pm.  All of our uniform items that we have for sale are on an inventory. If there is anything that you particularly require, then please let us know.  We are also in need of any spare or unused uniform items that are in a good state of repair (washed and pressed/dry cleaned), please hand these in to the school office with your name clearly placed on each item.  We will take care of the pricing of the items for sale, and we currently allocate 75% of the sale price to the parent and 25% to the PTA account. We also have a number of surplus school bags with wheels.  These will be available at the uniform sale on the 29th November. They are priced at £5.00 each.

Christmas Fayre – Friday December 9th

This is always a wonderful event which raises a great deal of money for our boys and girls.  We operate a “mufti” day on this Friday, where our children do not wear their uniform, however, in return for this, please may we ask parents to donate either gifts, toys, books bottled goods etc. to help raise funds.  We will also be having a raffle and bottle tombola and a host of other stalls at the event. I will let you know nearer the time what will be in store at our fayre. Please can donations be delivered to the school office on the day of the Christmas Fayre and not before – space for the storage of donations is at a premium.

We are looking for volunteers to help with sorting and labelling the donations for the tombola stall, toy and book stall and other miscellaneous goods. This is usually done first thing in the morning on the day and lasts for approximately two hours.  We will also be grateful for help in setting up the stalls after lunch.  If anyone can spare an hour or two on this day then please give your name and availability to Mrs Fox.  Many thanks.

 Children’s Christmas Parties

Our boys and girls will have their annual Christmas Parties on the 12th and 13th December. For those of you who are new to the school; our Christmas parties commence with lunch, entertainment ( a disco for the juniors and Mr Merlin and Okey Dokey the dragon for the infants), games and a visit from Father Christmas himself, who distributes a small gift to each of our boys and girls!  It is traditional that on this day, the children who are participating in the party wear their own clothes. I can honestly say that our Children have a truly wonderful afternoon and it is by far, one of the highlights of their school year.

The Junior party is on Monday the 12th and the Infants’ party is on Tuesday the 13th.  I am delighted to inform you that this year the PTA has raised enough money to pay for the entertainment and the gifts.  Lunch will be provided by Garnet’s Gourmet at a small cost to the parents of those children who do not have hot lunches. For those that do have a hot lunch, we are hoping to keep the costs the same as a regular school meal.  I will let you know the outcome of this in due course.
