In pre
school we follow the Foundation Stage, set out by Ofsted, which
incorporates the six Early Learning Goals. These are knowledge and
Understanding of the World, Physical Development, Creative development,
Mathematical Development, Communication Language & Literacy and
Personal. Social and Emotional Well Being.
We are registered for 24
children and have three designated early years practioners. Each child is
assigned a Key Worker on joining pre school, who works with you and your
child throughout their time with us.
Our daily routine includes
promoting the curriculum and providing opportunities through free play,
structured play, outdoor activities, role play & dressing up. As each
child progresses they are encouraged to develop their listening, reading,
writing and numeracy skills.
We are fortunate to be able to share
some of the main schools facilities, with the children enjoying lessons
from the qualified music teacher and using the school hall and field for
PE.
Special Educational Needs Our Special
Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO), Shelley Hatchard, works closely
with all of the supervisors in the Kindergarten and is responsible for the
day to day operation of the Special Educational Needs (SEN) policy and
will co-ordinate the provision for the children with Special Educational
Needs.
When they leave us many children will join the local LEA
Primary Schools, some will continue their education in St Thomas Garnet's
Main School.
