Leavers Destinations

From St Thomas Garnet’s School our children have a choice of Secondary Schools they can attend. There are three alternatives available to our children.

The Bournemouth LEA System We have an excellent record of achieving a high percentage of 11+ passes  for entry in to the Bournemouth Grammar Schools:  Bournemouth School (for Boys) & BSG (for girls) As well as  a choice of single sex or mixed secondary schools. Further a field, Twynham and Highcliffe, over the border in Dorset LEA, are options for our children.

The Catholic System - St. Peter’s
Catholic children who attend St. Thomas Garnets, who attend church and have made their First Holy Communion, are eligible to apply for a place at St. Peters Catholic School, and will be in category 2ii. Pupils from St. Thomas Garnets who are not practising Catholics, and can be of another faith or non -faith, have gained successful entry to St. Peters with a letter of support from the Headmistress. All parents are strongly advised to read the admissions policy for entry to St. Peters into Year 7. Please be aware that as an Independent school, we are not technically not known as a "feeder" school. Only state funded schools may be known as "feeders."
